From vibrant live performances to cutting-edge production studios, Accra exemplifies how African entertainment is redefining itself, rooted in cultural heritage yet boldly embracing modern creativity and global reach.

Launched in December 2024, African Music Week Accra, set for December 15–20, 2025, cements the city’s status as a hub of West African sound and innovation. Accra’s influence is evident, with three albums by producer Afrolektra topping Apple Music Ghana in 2025, showcasing its production excellence. From Sarkodie’s lyricism to Black Sherif’s storytelling and Gyakie’s soulful melodies, the city continues to shape Africa’s global music identity, driven by creative energy flowing through its studios, venues, and streets.

Across Osu and James Town, events like Ria Boss Open Mic and Tempo Thursday spotlight diverse talents, where hip-hop, highlife, and gospel blend into genre-defying sounds. With Africa’s music industry projected to surpass $1 billion by 2025, Ghana stands at the forefront, driving both cultural vitality and commercial growth through its soulful performances and traditional rhythms.
